What answers can design give to the problems of an ageing society?
Never have there been more old people than young ones.
This trend poses us challenges, which need to be tackled with new approaches. Design can give complex and holistic solutions.
During my internship at Design Terminal Budapest my research group and I collected a big load of existing design projects that engage with the topic of ‘demographic change’. The outcome is a catalogue, that was published on the occasion of Holis Summer Academy 2015, which engaged with 'design without age-restriction'.
Sometimes the best ideas sprout at the end of the world.
In a remote camp in a forest in the middle of Hungary young and old people with different backgrounds from various European countries met. Together they worked out unusual and innovative concepts to go about the problems of an ageing society.
